Jean-Paul Burger (JP), born 13 May 1996, is an International triathlete from Namibia. In April 2018, he represented his country at the Commonwealth Games in Australia. Amongst JP’s achievements, are victories at both the 2013 Junior Biathle World Champs in Cyprus, and the 2014 African Youth Games in Botswana. His performance at the African Youth Games served as qualifier for the Youth Olympic Games in China.
Whilst participating as an International Triathlete, JP is still a diligent academic, studying at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. Balancing sport and a full time academic program can be very challenging. Amongst many other events in-between, his next big goal is to represent my Namibia at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Looking further ahead, JP has always enjoyed the longer 70.3 triathlon events, and once he’s retired from the ITU circuit, he plans to be specialise in this format.
